At the end of June 2025, Tom Melbye, a Norwegian engineer and long-standing designer in the international tunnel construction world, celebrated his birthday with 53 guests in the Hagerbach Test Gallery – a place with which he has had close ties as a member of the board since 2018.

The celebration began with a sophisticated flying aperitif, including shrimp in potato straw, Swiss salmon with beetroot cream and a smoking carrot and ginger shot. This was followed by a guided tour of the tunnel – a tribute to Melbye's impressive career from BASF to Normet to his current role as Senior Advisor.

The subsequent dinner with Italian flair featured vitello tonnato, mozzarella with watermelon and fine raw ham. The buffet included beef entrecôte, sea bass, risotto and polenta. For dessert: freshly prepared vanilla ice cream from the nitrogen boiler, accompanied by tiramisu, panna cotta and Nordic beverage specialities.

A stylish evening – worthy of a man who has shaped entire industries with his depth and vision.
