Ingredients:

  • 200 g Shallots
  • 200 g Dried tomatoes
  • 50 g Chili
  • 200 g Mixed herbs
  • 10 g Balsamic vinegar
  • 10 g Garlic (3-4 toes)
  • Salt (depending on your taste)
  • 1 tea spoon Lemon juice
  • 200 ml Canola oil
  • 200 ml Olive oil

Preparation:

Finely chop the shallots, garlic, and dried tomatoes. Finely chop the mixed herbs as well and add them to a bowl along with the chili. Add the balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, canola oil, and olive oil, and mix everything together thoroughly. Finally, season with salt to taste and let the chimichurri sit in the refrigerator for a few hours, ideally overnight. This allows the flavors to develop more intensely.

Chimichurri pairs perfectly with grilled meats, steaks, chicken, fish, vegetables, and baked potatoes, or as a spicy spread or dip.

FAQ

What is chimichurri?

Chimichurri is a traditional herb sauce from South America that’s especially popular in Argentina and Uruguay. This spicy sauce is traditionally served with grilled meat, but it also pairs perfectly with fish, vegetables, or fresh bread.

How long does homemade chimichurri last?

Robert’s Chimichurri stays fresh in the refrigerator for at least two weeks. It’s important to ensure that the herbs are always completely covered by a thin layer of oil. This helps preserve the flavor and quality.

Does Robert’s Chimichurri contain allergens?

Yes. The chimichurri contains sulfites because it contains balsamic vinegar. People with a sulfite intolerance should take this into account.
